Happy Birthday to ME!!

I had my first appointment for baby number two this morning.

About ten minutes into sitting in the waiting room, I thought to myself... "Oh yeah... now I remember how much I dislike coming to these appointments." The wait feels like forever. You can only read so many pregnancy/baby magazines before the propaganda for all things unnecessary that our capitalistic country advertises as "must haves for baby" melts your brain. Let me just add here that not even once have I thought to myself "Damn, I wish I would have bought that wipe warmer." or "I really don't know how my daughter has lived this long without a sleep positioner." Ok, done with the ranting...

After the paperwork and insurance information is complete I am called back to the exam room to sit and wait patiently in subzero temperatures wearing nothing but this seasons beautiful, yet recklessly revealing, gown that I swear I have seen on the red carpet.

Random thoughts:
"I should have shaved my legs for this... huh. Oh well."
"They really need ceiling art in here."
"I should have eaten more than pineapple and melon for breakfast."

*Fast forward 15 minutes*

We are trying to find a heartbeat... she says she hears it behind mine. I don't hear it. Aidynn gave me the same problem so I am not panicking.... yet. Then she says we will have to do an ultrasound to see how baby is doing because I am (once again) measuring small. She estimates 10weeks by what she feels externally.

10weeks!? No way...

At this point I am sad because scheduling an ultrasound will be next week, and I wanted to know today. So I get dressed and head out to get my next appointment and lab slip. My doctor is waiting outside the door and says "Alrighty, follow me."

"Huh?....?"

They got a new ultrasound machine! WOOOHOO! IT'S BABY TIME!

I have been a bit detached from this pregnancy so far. I don't feel the baby. I haven't seen or heard the baby. Duane isn't around talking to and kissing my belly like he did last pregnancy. All I know is that I peed on a stick and it said "Pregnant" - well the second time. The first time it said error. *Enter profanities about ClearBlue Easy Digital* After it said "Pregnant" I ran to show Duane and he laughed and said 'OH WOW! Are you ok? (didn't let me answer) OH WOW! We made a baby!!' and he was so happy. Then he had to leave 2 weeks later. So I didn't know what to expect with the ultrasound.

When I saw our baby though.... ohhhh.... I started bawling like a hormonal and pregnant woman... oh wait.

How could anything so tiny be so beautiful!?

I don't have the anxiety I had with my last pregnancy. I have been through this before, I know what to expect, and I know not to worry. Sure enough, there was no need to panic, the baby was just hiding down low like Aidynn did. Baby was perfectly posed for us and dancing around like you wouldn't believe! I saw the ten tiny toes and ten tiny fingers... that fast little heartbeat... and that precious little face... it's so hard to explain the feelings. It's like looking at a picture of exactly how much 2 soul mates love one another. So much love was put into creating this new life - it's pure joy to see for the first time. Pure joy.

Now it was time to determine an estimated due date. Baby is measuring at 12weeks 1day..... (HA! I knew it was further than 10 weeks...)

EDD: 08/29/08 -

HEY!! That's my BIRTHDAY!

Not only is that the best birthday present ever, and we will have a little Virgo, but chances are that since it is a little further off than we initially thought - Duane will probably be able to make it HOME!!!

*Enter Waterworks*

I have 3 beautiful pictures of my newest little one - 2 for me and 1 to send to Daddy. I can't wait to tell him on Sunday!

I'm so happy I feel like I could fly.
