One Week

After one week, I got on the scale this morning and I have lost.....

10 pounds.

Only 5 more to go until I get to my pre-pregnancy weight.

It has always been very important to me that I not be one of those mothers who "lets themselves go" because they have already "landed" a man and kids. I can hear the gasps of feminists everywhere, and the women who will claim that there are more important things in life - and I can't argue with that. But appearances matter in romantic relationships when it comes to passion and confidence. It may be a concept that women are unhappy accepting, but that doesn't make it untrue.

Thanks to Duane's delicious cooking, the last week of weight loss has been (almost) effortless.

Duane has also lost 10 pounds.

Nutrition is a constant topic of discussion in our household. We try to maintain a low carb way of eating. So many people don't understand why they are fat, are getting fatter, and can't seem to lose weight - and most of these people criticize the diet that we follow without educating themselves. Now I'm not saying that we are nutrition nazi's, we do allow ourselves to enjoy junk food on occasion, but being conscious of what you put into your body and how it makes you feel is very important.

Duane didn't believe anything that I said about carbohydrates when we first began dating. Slowly he made more and more discoveries on his own.... and now I think sometimes he forgets, when he is raving about how ignorant some people are about their diet, that I am the one who introduced him to the concept.

It's cute though, and I am very happy that Aidynn will grow up in a home where we know better than to throw macaroni and cheese, juice, and cookies at her and call it a balanced meal.
