I had a doctors appointment this morning. I dropped Duane off at work, and I went to sit and spend way too much time reading parenting magazines that tell me nothing new about child-rearing, but plenty about the newest advertising and marketing strategies to sell parents things they don't need. I miss having Duane with me at the appointments, and he misses being there with me too, but I guess it's one of those things that's give and take right?
We are at a point where he can play with her. Last night he had his hand on my belly and pressed just slightly over my belly button- and she kicked him back. I think her name suits her so well! Aidynn = fire. She does have quite the firey personality already! (I wonder where she could get that...) I love it when he interacts with her. There's a sense of family, and security, that I have never known when we're all together.
Everything at the actual doctor's appointment went fine; Aidynn is big and healthy, and again started kicking the doctor. (I don't like her much either, that's my girl!) I gained 6 more pounds (Still within my ideal range for pregnancy! YAY!) My iron is showing a litle low, so I need to take supplements along with my Pre-natal and Omega-3. But the highlight of the appointment was my RhoGAM shot (yay!). I am type B- and Duane is type O+, so it was a fun little step I got to take (because I am a "-" blood type) just in case (on a cold day in hell unless the whole "you forget" thing kicks in) we decide to have any more children, I won't build up antibodies to the next little one's possible blood type.
IT HURT LIKE HELL! That stuff burns!!! And they give it to you in the hip; I believe so that you feel it more because there is less fatty tissue. (Not that I don't have enough of THAT to go around) I still feel it... 2 hours now after it was administered.... I came home to get some lunch and took off my pants to stop the pressure on my hip- just waiting for it to go away. I'll need to have one more after she is born, but then I'll never have to worry about it again.
The worst part of the entire scenario, however, was I realized that nagging pain causes me the most stress. Stress causes the evil smoker in me to re-surface. There have been the occasional cravings now and again, and I have always managed to over-come them. Today was the worst yet. I just realized also that today marks the exact 5 month anniversary of me quitting those evil, smelly, life threatening things! *Toots her own horn* I am, on one hand, so disappointed that the thought of giving my sweet, innocent, unborn daughter "just one" even crossed my mind. On the other though, I didn't, and that is what really matters. I know how hard it was to quit, I know how bad it is for me and those I am around, I won't do that again! (Besides, as Desiree once put it "...it makes you stinky".)
I'm glad the morning is over though. I should really get back to work, but that shot actually made me nauseous. I feel tired now. I'm going to have some lunch and then see how I feel.
