Through the looking glass

I've just been sitting at work entering control numbers for past invoices and I minimized my screen for a moment to open a new spreadsheet. My desktop background is a picture of my daughter. Just a glimpse got me thinking.

I could stare at it for hours and do nothing else. She is so sweet and so beautiful. Duane and Aidynn make me so happy I hardly know what to do with myself sometimes. I am so very much in love with my family and my life. I feel like I should thank someone even though there is no one to thank.

It's almost as if my entire way of thinking has changed - not almost, it has. When I think about it, I realize that I have changed so much over the last 3 years, and I have such a different perspective than I used to. I can remember how I used to be... but it seems like I am looking at a completely different person in my mind. That person was cold, depressed, bitter, and unhappy with everything around her, but for years she did nothing to better her situation. She waited for things to happen - she didn't go out and make things happen. It was when I started doing this that things got better - and it started a domino effect with everything else in my life. I don't stress and worry as much, and I am the exact opposite of depressed. Even when big things that could be devastating are looming over our heads, I still can keep my cool and be content to do everything I can when I can - and then wait and see what happens. I wish I could take all of the credit for this change of view, but I know I can't.

Duane has really been my anchor in the storm. He truly is the best friend I have ever had and I don't know what I would ever do without him. I am just as excited now about spending the rest of my life with him as I was a year ago.

All of this came into my head simply by catching a glimpse of my daughters face....
