False Alarm

Last night, Duane and I had a little scare - we thought my water had broken. I realized at that point, that I had nothing ready! No birthing plan written, no bags packed, no numbers ready, I didn't even know where the hospital entrance was! I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow, so I didn't think I would need any of that quite yet. After finding the number and calling the on-call doctor, he told me to go to the hospital. I wasn't having any real pains... I had been having a backache all day and some crampy feelings, but nothing majorly painful.

So.... after my panic and fear subsided a bit, we headed to the hospital. They did some tests. My water hasn't broken. I am dilated to 2 cm and 50% effaced. Everything is great. Miss Aidynn didn't like the monitors and kept kicking them off the top of my belly, and by 2 am, when we could finally go home, I was exhausted. Poor Duane fell asleep on the labor room couch. We usually get to bed around 9 pm, so it was way past our bedtime. We had both worked all day and he went running that evening.

While we were driving home, Duane said he was a little disappointed. When I asked him why, he said "I was excited about getting to see our daughter...."

That was one of those sentences where your brain stops and you can't find words.

After he said that - my heart overfilled and hasn't stopped.
