Could you pass the scissors please?

Snip snip snip.

Cutting people out of my life seems easier for me to do now for some reason. They offer me rationalization on a silver platter for viewing them as unworthy of my time and effort any longer. I know this might sound cold, but hear me out.

I am not a "fair weather friend" type of person. Either I am your friend, or I am not. I am fairly demanding when it comes to the credentials to qualify as my "friend". (Even more so for a significant other - feel free to ask him) Unless there is history between myself and said friend - at that point they become more like family.

Getting to the point. What seems to be irritating me is the previously "shared" friends and those aquainted with "shared" friends that I once had. I wasn't happy with my life and for good reasons. I changed my life for the better. I am happier now. This should be enough reason for a "friend" to be happy for me. People don't work that way I suppose. I think I figured out why.

These people that I presumed were my friends, obviously were not. (Duh) All of those who I recently cut from my life (emotionally and physically) were self-centered, miserable people. Said people sympathize with others like themselves. I'm not unhappy anymore, and I think I am resented for that.

One of these people had the audacity to relay to me that I wasn't the same person they were once friends with, and they didn't like the person that I had become.

Defensive first thought: FUCK YOU BUDDY.

Rational first thought: Umm.. yeah, that sucks, cause I do. What I think about who I am, and the choices I make, is all that matters in my little world.

Really.

These "friends", I thought, should read all about my life before March. Giving them access to my blogs about how joyful my life was and the many pleasant experiences that I had with the person I shared my house with was an idea that I entertained. Then I realized that I didn't care about what they thought. Sure there were some good times, but nothing that I can't top with experiences with new (selectively chosen) friends.

Go about with your sad little lives. I don't have the time or inclination to fight for your friendship. Misery loves company, and it's a crowd I guess I just don't fit into anymore.
