"Rock"abye Baby

3 comments:
I first heard the Rockabye! Baby albums when I was pregnant with Aidynn, and I loved them, but I never got around to getting them. Again, with Kindle, I was going to get them, but could never seem to find the time.

They crossed my brain again a few days ago, and I decided that Corbin was my last chance to get them for one of my babies (and for me!). So I did. I found all of them.

I am so impressed with most of these, I am tempted to try listening to them to lull myself to sleep. These are just a few of the songs from some of the artists. Stairway to Heaven is my favorite.

Each artist has their own CD and there are 16 artists in all: Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Bjork, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Led Zepplin, Green Day, Bob Marley, AC DC, Pink Floyd, The Cure, The Ramones, and The Rolling Stones.

A girl and her shadow....

0 comments:
Long ago, in the summer of 2006 I purchased a few products from my favorite makeup line - MAC. I found the most beautiful eyeshadow ever. I fell in love. I used it everyday. In fact, I used it so often, that I ran out of it in less than 4 months. 4 months is a record for a MAC cosmetic and me. As some of you might know, the pots they sell eyeshadow in are quite large and tend to last forever.

This shadow coordinated with my skin tone perfectly. The green in my eyes more vivid. It paired beautifully with black or brown liner - liquid or pencil. I could wear it with greens, or browns, light or dramatically dark.

So, when I got down to 2-3 uses left I headed to my local MAC counter to purchase a new pot. I happily walked up to the counter.

"Can I help you?"
"Yes, please. I need to get a bottle of Studio Fix Liquid in NW 20, and a pan of Relaxing eyeshadow."
"What eyeshadow?"
"Relaxing."
"Hmm... oh! I'm sorry, that was a limited edition and has been discontinued. About 2 months ago."

I wanted to cry. I looked for another shadow that was similar, but there was nothing. Duane got to listen to me whine all the way home.

Over the next 6 months I kept looking on e bay. The only times it came up, it was used, or due to the discontinued status the seller had marked it up 3x it's original cost. These shadows normally cost around 14$. My stubborn frugality wouldn't pay $40 for a shadow. Besides I was pregnant and money was tight.

Fast forward to present day, about a week ago. I found a shadow that resembled Relaxing in color, but it isn't MAC and the pigment is subdued, and it just isn't the same. This, of course, set me reminiscing for that perfect shadow I had once upon a time. So... I decided. I will pay the price. I need that shadow again. Just one more time.

I logged into my e bay account and began my search.

No items found.

OMG! WHAT!? NOOOOO!

I looked over and over for the last week. Nothing.

It's gone. The only other location I was able to find it was on a website called MakeupAlley. It's a swapping community for barely used makeup, and the bitc... I mean girl, who had a brand new in box Relaxing wasn't budging. It was as if she didn't WANT to part with it. I bit my tongue and moved on. Depressed.

Yes, I know. It's only a shadow.... but it was the perfect shadow. That one perfect cosmetic that every girl searches for her entire life, and sometimes never finds it. I found it! With my luck, it was a limited edition. ::sadness::

Last night after I got my hair done, I started obsessing about it again and decided to look on e bay one more time.

ONE SELLER. BNIB RELAXING. SUNDRESSING COLLECTION 2006. 29.99 + S&H.

::click click click click click::
BUY NOW BUY NOW BUY NOW BUY NOW BUY NOW

The seller is out of town until the 13, but ships within 2 days of receiving payment.
I paid for it.
Around $34.00.

I don't regret it one single penny, even as frugal as I am. I can't wait to get it. I am so freaking excited. There are very few things in life that I get as excited about as I do with MAC makeup. In fact, nothing materialistic can compare... except maybe shoes... and I have that under control.

This entire ordeal makes me want to hit the MAC counter every 2-3 months and collect all of their limited edition makeup, and always make sure I buy the items I love in doubles....

or triples...

My eye candy

0 comments:

It has been a busy, busy day today... and it isn't even 3 pm.

I had an interview with a daycare, it seemed nice enough, but they are just starting up, have few children in their care, and have only been licensed for a year... and they are asking about $40 more a week than average. I think I would rather place her in a private school daycare and pay the extra $40 additional bucks.

I had a military appointment, I got a nice shiny brand new military ID. I can go shopping on base now! WOOOHOO! I have to admit I have missed not being able to go to AAFES and base exchange. How convenient that I work only 3 blocks from McClellan AFB.

I had a really nice visit with 2 friends and got to catch up on life.

I paid some bills, 2 weeks early even - go me.

I went to work to visit because Aidynn hasn't been in for a while now, and to invite some of the girls to a pampered chef party my roomie is throwing on Saturday. I don't know why, but I am excited for her. Of course everyone was happy to see her - especially Davey. I caught Gabi sneaking her cookies. I have only been gone a few weeks, but there has been some high turnover rates with the drivers. I took some calls and started working - I can't HELP it! ::laughs:: and all the new drivers stared at me when I walked into the warehouse like I was an alien. I decided to be nice and not mess with them.

I also managed to catch my boss and sit him down to tell him that I am pregnant again. Pft. I don't know why I ever worry when I have to have a meeting with him. He laughed, said congrats, stared at me like I was superwoman (which I am - complete badassery here) and said "Wow, and you're doing it all by yourself?!", and then asked when I was coming back and said he missed me. Awwww.... I talked to him for a bit and then off baby girl and I went....

To Target. I desperately want the movie Across the Universe. I love artsy movies and I have heard so many good things about it. Just my luck they were out of stock. They only had it in Blueray. Duane and I have talked about getting Blueray, but I have a huge collection of DVD's and they are not format compatible. Bummer. Anyhow, after ONE day they were sold out! Oh well... I figure I will get it later on. Maybe I will ask my roommate if she will watch Aidynn while I run out to find it after she gets home from work. So, I bought 3 other movies - Jungle Book for my, er, Aidynn's Disney collection, The Last Mimzy, and Little Miss Sunshine. Then I figured I would look around a bit... what could it hurt right? .... $207 later I am on my way to the register, missing that I can't buy little things for Duane right now, and pass the camera case.... there they are.....

The Nikon D40 and the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi ..... I am smitten by these cameras... especially the way the Rebel looks in black. I haven't been able to decide which name to go with. If I do go with Nikon I will probably get the D80 since it had the comparable 10.2mp similar to the Rebel (Not that anything above 8mp matters) but now there is a new Rebel out as well! All the reviews I have read say that all of these cameras are wonderful... so many people rave about the beautiful pictures. These cameras with a lens will set me back about $700... yeah ouch, I know. (At least I get the batteries at cost ) BUT I haven't bought a new digital camera in a few years. I currently use a Canon Powershot ELPH (which I have loved) and I came across this....

Canon PowerShot G9

This is one of the most highly recommended cameras out right now. It isn't an SLR, but it's about 1/3 of the price of the others. My experience with Canon has been awesome. I love the fact that they are solid, high quality cameras. Not plastic pieces of crap like Kodak.

I just don't know.... maybe I will buy the PS and then tell Duane to go buy me one of the others for my birthday. heheh.... I know how he is. He has to know everything about everything and will only be satisfied with the best option.

Hrm... something to ponder.... so many choices!
