We're eloping this morning! Surprised? We kind of are too!

Duane and I decided that we don't want to wait until he comes home to get married. With our baby on the way and military insurance benefits being much better than those that I have at work, it makes sense. We also don't want his mother to continue being the beneficiary on his life insurance policies should anything happen to him. We have wanted to get married for a long time now and the reasons that we were waiting are still there, such as his legal battles over child support and custody of his two boys, but we will deal with those issues as we go.

When he comes home we will still have a reception with friends and family and everyone will be invited. Part of me is sad that circumstances and short timing prevent a big wedding, but it's not as big as the part that is so happy to be marrying him! I know my friends and family understand that!

Our marriage is about US and our family - no one else. Finally having some closure - bringing our family together under one last name makes me very happy.

Happy can't even begin to describe it!
