Little Blue Elephants

The best feeling in the world, that I have discovered so far, is when I look at my daughter and I see that she is truly, innocently, and purely happy. She has a smile that just exclaims, "I feel wonderful!"

No one ever told me about that feeling. Nothing can compare to the feeling I get knowing that Duane and I, and everything that we do for her are the reasons behind that smile.

On Aidynn's swing, there is a banner with a blue elephant. There is also a mobile that has hanging animals and she talks at them, but ever since she learned to focus she has been entranced by this blue elephant. She just stares at it. Duane and I were talking about it the other day when I brought up how much she was fascinated by it and he said, "Well, we're just going to have to get her a blue elephant then."

A light bulb went off in my head excitedly. "She HAS one!" I went digging through Aidynn's acquired collection of Beanie Babies and Beanie Buddies - she has hundreds of the things from when I collected them years ago. I found a large plush royal blue "Peanut the Elephant".

As soon as I found it we showed it to her and her eyes lit up with joy! We set it in her lap as she sat in her swing and she stared at it in amazement, touching it softly.

We watched her play with it for a while, until she fell asleep - with one hand softly petting the elephant and the other hand's thumb in her mouth.

I bet she was dreaming about elephants.....
