Aidynn had her first check-up today - she is 3 weeks old! Can you believe that?? She is such a smart and beautiful baby, and so convenient most of the time that it's amazing!
I nurse her, and I love it - there is so much bonding that I think mothers who choose not to, or unfortunately can't, breastfeed miss out on. However, this also means there is no delegating the responsibilities of nighttime feedings. It's all me.
Last night Aidynn woke me up once. For 15 minutes I fed and played with her, changed her diaper and then we fell blissfully back to sleep until it was time to wake up to go take Daddy to work and go to her appointment. I know - it's hard. The way I see it though, is that I have handled so many babies screaming through the night with colic and colds that this is karmas way of saying, "Hey, thanks."
"You're quite welcome karma - and thank you."
So we get to the doctors office and I'm filling out all of the paperwork for little Miss when I hear her start to coo and gurgle. I finish the paperwork and pick her up. She is wide awake and so happy. So we start talking and playing. I kid you not - in a room full of toddlers and babies every person, even other mothers - every person - who walked past us made some gesture, coo, or comment about what a beautiful/sweet/gorgeous/cute/insert adorable adjective here baby she was.
Yep, I know. I know....
Then it was time to visit the doctor. My baby really enjoys being naked -
The exam went well. She's grown half an inch and gained 1 lb (on an empty tummy) and the subconjunctival hemorraging that she had in her eyes from vaginal delivery is healing nicely. 10 precious fingers, 10 beautiful toes, and 1 very strong baby who lifted her head by herself and impressed the doctor.
After her appointment we went and met Daddy for lunch, and it's almost time to go get him from work. I think it's safe to say that we have both missed him today.
Right now she is dreaming:
I would say that it is of good things - because she is growling... and she only growls when she is happy. *laughs*
