Duane went running on Friday of the week Aidynn was born. (2 days after Aidynn and I got home from the hospital.) He went to the park as usual, at around 5:30 in the morning. When he got back to the car, someone had broken in the back door window on the drivers side! They didn't take anything, or damage anything else, they simply broke the window. They didn't take the stereo or the cd's that were in there. There was even a check and some cash that they didn't take.
What a bunch of crap! So, I haven't taken Aidynn anywhere the last week, because the window is broken. Tomorrow morning we are getting it fixed, but it's costing us 125$!
It's just amazing to me that someone would have so little respect for other peoples property without it resulting in any benefit to them. The timing of it happening couldn't be more inconvenient - SDI for maternity leave gives me a whopping 200$ a week based on last summer when I wasn't working full time in Redding. (I had gotten a settlement from a lawsuit, so I didn't have to.) I don't see how they could expect a single person who just had a baby to live off of that! What a joke!
I've actually been pretty calm about this entire situation. More mellow than I think I normally would be anyhow. I know things always work out fine for us - usually better than anticipated!
I wish I could be in 2 places at once. I miss my job and really like the extra income, but I want to be with Aiydnn all the time. (I refuse to leave her until she is at least a month and a half - and even then the only person I trust her with outside of family is an awesome mom of 2, and has offered to take care of her until she is old enough for daycare.) I can totally see the benefits of being a stay at home mom, but I just don't think I could do that. I really like my job. I also know that I feel that I can give my daughter the best possible life right now by bringing in more money for my family and not settling for "just good enough" for her.
