Today, I think I finally figured out why my dog gives me the look of confusion when I act stupid with him. Anyone who has ever owned a dog knows what I am talking about. They tilt their head, stare at you, and blink.
This is the same feeling I get now when confronted with other people's stupidity. Specifically the people who attempt to deceive themselves into thinking/believing that they are someone that they are not. I wonder if they realize (eventually) how much they are kidding themselves.
I can claim to be superman... but when it comes down to it, I can't really fly. These people would not only claim to be superman... but they would don the cape and climb another few stories just to plummet to their demise a bit faster. (Metaphorically speaking of course.)
Then they get SO upset and sincerely surprised when the world (and their persona) isn't the way they thought it was and they start all over again..... this time they re-invent themselves as something else.
NEW AND IMPROVED! again....
Perhaps I am lucky in knowing that I don't have to re-invent myself. I am me, and I like me. I don't have to lie about who I am or try to be different or special. I'm not always happy, but I'm not always sad either. I am a cornucopia of emotions and I'm fine with that. You all know that if you're not fine with that... I'll stop talking to you. hahahaha.... no really.
So, until I figure out why it is that people find this behavior necessary - I will stand back and watch.... tilt my head to the side... stare.... and blink.
